Wednesday Weigh in Week 47

Ever have one of those days where you wake up running and never quit. Yep. That was today. I got up late, second day in a row!!, and just kept on going. I was supposed to bake my Amish friendship bread today and about halfway through the day realized that that I didn't have enough flour. I confirmed that suspicion when I got home so I had to run to the library to copy the recipe and then to Winco to get some flour and to see what kind of pudding they had. Did the dumbest thing at the library. I was trying to copy real quick and didn't look to see which side the paper went on. So of course I copied nothing. Just a blank paper! Haha. I had to go back out to my car to get more change for it to recopy it. I ended up wasting .60 on it instead of .30. Oh well. And then joy of all joy's Winco had cheescake pudding. I used that in my bread mix, threw in some caramel bites that I had, put it in a 9x13 cake pan and had some yummy yummy bread/cake. Whatever you want to call it. I call it the not lose any weight bread. Next time I make it I am throwing in something chocolate so I can't eat it! It was that good tonight! Oh boy. So now it's 10 and I am ready to crash but I remembered I hadn't done my post yet. I mean of course my super busy day would be Wednesday!

So other than that fun part of the day this post will be super short today. I've already taken my melatonin and will be drifting off to sleep hopefully soon. The key is to stay asleep all night and not keep waking up in the middle of the night..

Lost less than a pound. Don't know what the deal with my body is right now. But I will get it figured out.

Now I just need my headache to hit the road and (almost) all will be better :0)

Wednesday Weigh in Week 25

So I'm pretty sure my scale hates me. LOL! Either that or I ate too much salt the last night. Which is quite possible. Note to self: Never eat at IHOP again. How 2 eggs, hash browns and toast can equal 1080 calories without the bacon beats me? Add an extra 80 for the bacon. But I skipped the toast. But it was still close to 1000 calorie meal. Gotta be the butter? I mean that's the first time I have eaten there in years! But I do like to get breakfast from Denny's. So it's probably the same thing. Sigh. Dang!

So I have done pretty good the last two days about being GF/sugar free/yeast free. I decided for the moment to keep at least the cheese right now simply because of protein. I know it adds some fat in my diet, but I have to get that protein in! I had some applesauce tonight. It's homemade and I was craving it. So I pulled it out of the freezer. When I make it this year I am going to try it with way less sugar and see how the difference is :) Or maybe none at all and just put the cinnamon in. Hmm. Choices :0)

Ok, so I had found a kettlebell workout that my sister had bought and I decided to do it tonight, since I didn't get a workout in before the boys woke up this morning. (Um yeah. these boys need to learn to sleep in pronto! 6:30 on summer break is just not OK!) Oh my gosh! For one thing. It's like all squats!

Have I mentioned I hate squats? Ok. Well I don't do them very well. Especially after a leg and a knee surgery. But I did the 30 minute workout the best I could. I then went to Sparkpeople to input my calories that I burned. (I also did 15 minutes each on the airofit and the bike.) Well when I searched for it I was very shocked to find out that a 30 minute kettlebell training burns 600 calories. Holy Crap! And then I ended up burning over 400 more on the bike and airofit! Um that was an unintentional 1000 calorie burn day. I had no idea that it burned that many calories LOL! I might have picked it up a long time ago if I had known that! I mean it's not something that I will do every day by any means, because like I said. I. Hate. Squats. 30 minutes and my legs were JELLO! But I will probably throw it in once a week, every once in a while or so ;) Just to throw off my body.

So I've gotten back to counting calories and working out. Bring it on Summer. I've got big plans for you :-) Except for the week I am getting my wisdom teeth out. :( Not looking forward to that. But at the same time I am ready to get it over with. So I'm just gonna go with it. And enjoy a week of soup, and pudding right? :0)

A stay home day

Today was a stay home day :) As we like to call it, a day where I don't have to go to work or church :) I took today off of work because 1) we didn't have kids today. It's conference week, so they aren't there. And I had trade time I needed to use. Woo-hoo. I am glad I decided to use it all in one day so I could finally recover from the wedding. I was supposed to get up and get the boys ready for school, but one of them was sick, so my Mom ended up staying home too. Bonus! I got to sleep in! I stayed in bed until after 9. It was glorious :)

So after I ate and let my stomach settle for a while, I went and did my run that I had postponed from Saturday. It ended up starting to be quite windy, but that sort of worked to my advantage. Today was the last interval running that I get to do before I start the last week of just running for 30 minutes. So that means this week I am going to do 4 runs. And I have already mentally prepared myself that I won't be finishing 3 miles in 30 minutes, so I am ok with the drop in mileage :)

But today I finished 3 miles in 53 minutes! I had to look up on sparkpeople how long it took me to run my last 5k. It took me 58 minutes and 39 seconds. Now today I didn't do that last 10th of a mile, but hey. It wouldn't have taken me 5 minutes for sure! I am very impressed than in a year I have managed to cut off 5 minutes of running time. I was passing points earlier in my run today. I got to the spot to where I normally start running and had to walk a little farther before my run started. So I am even getting faster when I walk :) It averaged out to an 18 minute mile today. I was very excited. I had figured for sure I would be slower because of all the crap food I ate this weekend, but my friend who runs told me it was probably because I had more carbs and sugar in me :) So hey. I guess we will see what happens tomorrow when I start my last 3 runs of walking for 5 minutes and running for 30 and walking for 5.

3 more runs and I will have finished this program. Something to cross off of my list! Can't wait!

A celebrating weekend!

Yes. I should be in bed. Yes I am exhausted. But I figured I should say something at least real quick ;)

This weekend I had the bridal shower at my house and then tonight we celebrated my sister's birthday with dinner at Texas Roadhouse and then cake and ice cream at the Grandparent's house. The shower was great! We had a lot of people show up, they ate the food and gave her great presents. Well except the cupcakes that are still sitting on my table. Those I think my sister are taking to work. I ended up at the very end only grabbing a handful of gluten free tortilla chips that my friend had brought. So I did really good eating wise at the party. After everyone left and we ate dinner my friend and I (who is other maid of honor) literally sat on the couch for almost 3 hours just talking and playing games on our I-phones. We are great friends! :)

Then this morning I ended up covering for another friend on the worship team who ended up being sick. So I ended up at church early even though I thought I was gonna stay home LOL! I guess that's the way it goes. Church was awesome.

Then for dinner we went to Texas Roadhouse. Now it just opened up a few months ago, so it's all the rage right now. I just wasn't impressed. For one thing. I am not a steak or rib eater. Ok? I really just don't like eating meat off the bone. Never have. And it was honestly expensive. I don't pay that much for dinner. Anything over 10.00 and you can just bet I won't buy it. Unless I am at Olive Garden. Which I don't foresee in my future right now after going gluten free. Back to the Roadhouse. I don't know if it was just because I was with people all weekend long? But by 5:00 and they dimmed all the lights so you couldn't see and then they were BLARING country music and the waitresses were line dancing and people were screaming happy birthday songs to people and trying to find something on the menu that I could actually eat. Well I just wasn't very happy. It was hard to even talk around the table, the music was so loud. I ended up with a side of fries and a small bowl of chili, which wasn't all that great to me. Hey. At least the fries were good :) I guess I'm still a cheap date. My meal ended up being 6.00. Woo! Happy Birthday Chana.

Then off we went to the Grandparent's house. I basically stayed out of the kitchen. Would I love cake and ice cream right now? Oh yes I would! But what I would not want is all the sugar cravings to come back after so long of cutting it way back. So I said no.

I am telling you that this is one of the hardest things I have ever had to do in my life. It's not that I just don't want it. But it affects me differently. I really have been looking at it like I am allergic to sugar. It just does bad things to me. And I can't do it anymore. That's not saying I don't miss it. I just have a better reason to say no.

oh I forgot to add that I did go for my run yesterday. And it was sort of raining. kind of more like spitting. ;) I am still amazed that I can run for as long as I am. This week I jump to 4 minutes at a time. So I am kind of excited for saturday to see if I can make it around the track in 4 minutes. That would be awesome!

Sugar Allergy?

My mom brought home a piece of paper the other day with some info on it that I found quite interesting. It was talking about a yeast overgrowth in your body, Candida, and after reading it and doing some research on-line, something clicked in me. This appears to be the cause of a lot of problems in my body. In essence its a giant yeast infection that is in your entire body. My main problem that I can see with it is that it has infected my toenails. My feet and nails have been horribly affected with Athlete's foot for almost 10 years now. No matter what I try, it continues to stay infected. So I have decided to try a Candida diet to eliminate this yeast in my body and try to restore it. :)

My only issue with this new lifestyle is that it involves cutting out almost every single food that I eat. No. For real. "Food allergies believed to be associated with candida include dairy products, wheat, yeast, corn, eggs, citrus fruits and sugar"--(from livestrong.com. Um hello? What am I supposed to eat? It's like a complete 360 turn on my food. I'm a little scared to try this and at the same time I know I have to. I want my feet to clear up! I want to be able to go and get a pedicure and not be afraid to have somebody work on my feet. I won't let anyone touch them right now. I don't need to be sticking my feet that look like this into someones hands just because I want a pedicure. Not going to happen.

And I haven't quite figured out how long I need to do this before re-introducing food back in to see what I am actually allergic to. Yeah. It seems like every website is different on what they suggest that you do. Some foods are ok on some sites and not ok on others. So I don't quite know what I am supposed to believe. I just know I have to do something about it.

This is what this blog is going to be about for a while. Figuring out this sugar allergy and talking about it every day. Seeing how I do without the sugar, and how it affects/changes my body. It's going to be a lot of work, but I believe the end results are going to be much better than what my life is like now :)
2014. A year without the scale defining who I am. A year of finishing what I start.
